Prune and polish your poetry
Publish Date: 12 March 2008

You’ve had an idea and written it down, but now what?

Does it seem unfinished, unpolished and rough?

Are there too many words, or not quite enough?

Does the metre fit in? Is the rhyming okay?

Does it say just what you want it to say?

If you need help with your poetry, come along to the free Pruning and Polishing your Poetry Workshop on Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the Rockhampton Art Gallery, 62 Victoria Parade, Rockhampton.

Local poet Lana Webber will outline her strategies for finishing poems and give pointers for exploring the many possibilities that poetry offers for meaningful expression, using her own works and those of various classic poets.

Bring along your unfinished poems and those that need a little polishing for the group workshop, which is for teens to adults. Please also bring along a poem or book of poems, notepad and pen.

Bookings are essential by emailing gallery@rcc.qld.gov.au or phoning the Rockhampton Art Gallery on 4927 7129.
