Council's Airport & Economic Development Committee oversees economic development and tourism strategies for the City.
Council's Business Development Committee ensures Council's processes are user-friendly.
Council's Business Development Support Policy (see link at bottom of page) aims to:
1. Attract new businesses that create employment (directly or indirectly).
2. Encourage and support growth and development of existing business that creates employment (directly and indirectly).
3. Establish a positive image as a Council that supports business development.

The provision of services within Rockhampton to help maximise the impact of the Stanwell Energy Park has been one of Council's principal objectives.
Another important objective for Council is the recognition of Rockhampton as one of Australia's most liveable cities.
Council is also working to deepen the role played by Rockhampton businesses in servicing the Central Queensland coal mines.
The expansion of IT services in the City, and the creation of modern event staging facilities have been other important goals for Council.
